The new six-story building will physically connect to the facility currently occupied by the Dental School.  Five floors of the new facility will house clinical space for eleven departments including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and oral surgery.  Special consideration was given to patient, student and faculty movement throughout the building to provide optimal efficiency and to help the Dental School achieve their goal of becoming a paperless facility in the future.  Patient waiting areas are located at the east end of the building with departmental check-in areas and electronic medical history kiosks.  Patients are provided views of the campus from these waiting areas to help develop easier wayfinding.  The project includes 190 dental operatories.  These clinical areas were developed through careful collaboration with staff and faculty with the goal of providing rich learning environments, flexibility for growth and change, and comfortable and efficient patient spaces.
